Sally Burch is a graduate from Central St Martins, London and now lives and works from her studio / gallery in ‘Constable Country’, North Essex.
Her work is fundamentally abstract but has a range of references to the visible world, with links to landscape, architecture and climate. Her working practice feeds from the regular walks she takes near where she lives with sketches and photography. Motifs and colours are collected of the locally experienced space and combined with other physically experienced or virtually experienced spaces. Colours, shapes and marks are abstracted and reconfigured to present a reimagined abstract reality - about somewhere but nowhere.
For her paintings, Sally works mainly on wooden panels, using layers of colour pigment suspended in polymers or varnish in varying opacity, symbolising the overlaying of experiences relating to time and memory.
